GORNAL Athletic boss Andy Wyton thinks there is no danger of his players losing focus ahead of next week's cup final.

The Peacocks will face Willenhall Town in the final of the Birmingham FA Floodlit Mid-week Cup next Tuesday.

The game will be played at AFC Wulfrunians' Castlecroft Stadium.

However, before then, Gornal have two league games as they look to bag second spot in the West Midlands Premier.

They were set to face Dudley Sports away last night before going to Smethwick Rangers this Saturday.

Wyton said: "I don't think we will have a problem with the players looking too far ahead.

"They all know that if they want to feature in the final then they have to perform in our league games, especially those just beforehand.

"Everyone is looking forward to the game but they are also keen to finish our league season as strong as possible so we can claim second spot."

Gornal continued their fine form last weekend with a 3-1 away success against Black Country Rangers.

Forward Dreniz Bala bagged two of the goals and midfielder Brett McGilligan added another to hand Athletic the points.

"It was a really good performance," added Wyton.

"They came back at us well in the second half but we did enough to deserve the win.

"I think we were guilty of thinking we'd got the job done and our goalkeeper, Rich Kennedy, had to keep us in the game.

"He was superb at times and showed again that he is the best keeper in the league.

"Overall, our form has been good and hopefully we can maintain that right to the end of the season now."
