HALESOWEN Town have boosted their fire power for next season with a double striker swoop.

Forward Greg Pearson has joined Mike Taylor at The Grove as manager John Hill made his first summer signings.

Hales were in need of more striking options after Ben Haseley's departure to Stafford Rangers.

Pearson has played at a higher level since starting his footballing career in West Ham's youth set up, including a four year spell at Burton Albion from 2008 to 2012 and has a keen eye for goal.

He scored the Brewers' first ever goal in the professional game, netting on the opening day against Shrewsbury. He ended the season with fourteen goals.

After struggling to establish himself in the side at the start of the 2011/2012 season, he was loaned out to Aldershot Town for three months, followed by a similar loan spell at Crewe Alexandra later on in the season. Released in the summer of 2012, he joined Blue Square Premier side Grimsby Town on a free transfer.

Returned to the Midlands in the summer of 2013 to join Nuneaton, but struggled for games at Nuneaton due to the club's flying start to the new Skrill Premier season. More recently, Pearson has had spells with Kidderminster Harriers, Hednesford Town and Bishops Stortford.

John Hill said: "We are delighted that Greg has put pen to paper. I see him as a big coup for us and we are sure that his experience and profile will be invaluable for us all.

"We first tried to sign Greg at the back-end of last season but just missed out to his old side Bishop's Stortford. To have Greg on board from the start of the season is a massive boost and we look forwards to working with him."

Pearson quickly followed the addition of Mike Taylor from Worcester City.

On his signing, Hill added: "Mike is a player we have tried to sign twice before. The timing has come just right for Mike and Halesowen Town. He is a player who likes to put himself about and who will fit in well at the Yeltz."

A former Solihull Moors youth team striker, Taylor has played at higher level for a number of seasons with Worcester City and Solihull Moors.

With his first-team opportunities limited in his first season at Worcester, he also spent a fruitful period out on loan with Stourport Swifts, scoring eight goals in five games, but he still managed five goals for City that season from seven starts.

Taylor spent two years with City, scoring six goals in nine league starts in the 2012/13 season, including Worcester's goal in their 3-1 defeat to the Moors in February 2013. He moved to Solihull in the 2014/15 season where he started the season before returning to Worcester.
