FORMER Walsall and Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Cox has been appointed as Tividale's new goalkeeping coach.

He replaces Chris Walwyn who moved to Alvechurch to link up with former boss Ian Long.

Cox joins Tivi with an excellent pedigree, having played in the same youth team as England International Danny Welbeck, and training alongside Edwin Van Der Sar and current West Bromwich Albion keeper Ben Foster.

He said: "I'm delighted to be here at Tividale.

"My coaching career has mainly been down to my experience gained at Manchester United working under Eric Steele.

"I run my personal goalkeeping school, and ten of those have now been signed by professional clubs.

"But my focus is here at Tividale, we have a fantastic number one in Tom Turner. He's a great lad and a very talented stopper."

Dale's Joint Manager Ross Thorpe is delighted to have appointed a coach with Cox's pedigree.

He added: "Tom is an excellent coach, and me and Phil (Male) are pleased to add him to the management team.

"Having appointed Raj (Noor) as first team coach that left one piece of the jigswaw to fill and Tom fits the bill perfectly."
