HIMLEY powered into the final of the Worcestershire County Cup with victory over Droitwich Spa last night.

The four-wicket T20 success books them a place in the final against Worcester at New Road on Sunday, August 23.

They knocked off their 134 run target in the final over.

Meanwhile, Himley collapsed to 100 all out as they suffered their first defeat in four Birmingham League games at the hands of second-placed Leamington last Saturday.

Visitors Himley won the toss and elected to field against the promotion chasers.

It was a decision that soon paid off as three early wickets had Leamington reeling.

Elliot Hopkin soon removed opener Jamie Marsh, caught by Greg Wright, for just four runs.

Jamie Turner then had both Jonathan Wigley (8) and Zack Fagg (4) trapped lbw as the hosts slipped to 20-3.

However, Tom Lewis (69) and Lee Hopkins (70) teamed up to help their side’s recovery effort.

They were eventually bowled out in the last over of the innings with a total of 275 on the board.

Hopkin ended with figures of 4-86 with Turner 3-50.

Himley’s chase also got off to a poor start as Will Fraine was dismissed by Grant Thornton for just 14. Wasim Jaffer followed soon after for just one run.

Unlike Leamington, Himley couldn’t build a partnership that enabled them to get back on track.

Home bowlers Ollie Currill and Thornton continued to rip through the Himley line-up and they slumped to a 175-run defeat by the 35th over.

The disappointing result leaves Himley anchored firmly in mid-table in Division One of the Birmingham League and ends their three-game winning run.

They will look to bounce straight back when they welcome Moseley this Saturday (noon start).
