THREE golfers have taken a big step towards realising their dream of becoming professionals.

Jake Walley, from Wollaston, and Dudley's Dan Richards and Matt Roberts, who all attend the golf academy at Halfpenny Green Golf Club, have enrolled in the tournament golf college based at St Million, Cornwall, which helps them ready for a career as a European tour professional.

Jake and Dan both joined the academy when they were 11 and are now both 18. Matt, meanwhile, joined the academy just three years ago and is now also 18 and has enrolled in the applied golf management program to become a PGA professional.

"All three golfers have been fantastic to coach and have all worked hard to reach there goals," said coach Mark Sparrow. "This year Jake and Matt competed in the European Junior Open in Andalusia with Matt gaining a top 30 place and Jack finishing third and representing Staffordshire county for three years.

"Our academy at Halfpenny Green and Little Lakes are dedicated to developing junior golf with over 200 juniors having enrolled since we started and were enrolling now for our next batch of budding stars like these three guys."
