DUDLEY Town boss Nigel Kirkham thinks the victory over high-flying Cradley Town highlights the ability within his young squad.

The Robins ended a four-game winless run in fine fashion last Saturday as they claimed a 3-2 success over the Hammers at the Dell.

"It was a really even game and shows how good this group is," said Kirkham.

"I've been saying all season how strong I thought we could be but we have been hindered with injuries and have vastly underachieved for the last six week. That has set us back considerable and has left us in a false position compared to our ability.

"Hopefully this win can be the start of a good run. We are still three or four players short of what I would like but we now have enough to compete.

"The Cradley game was very even but we took our chances well.

"It was also great to see how much the players enjoyed the victory."

The Robins twice levelled matters before striking five minutes from time to take a much-needed three points.

A free-kick from Marius Schiopu made it 1 - 1 before Cradley edged themselves in front once more.

Alex Perry then fired in from the edge of the area to make it 2 - 2. With time running out, Shawn Devonport pounced to tap home the winner after the ball came back off the post.

Dudley are set to take on Gornal Athletic away tonight before hosting Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday.
