STOURBRIDGE manager Gary Hackett is pleased to have added defender Joe Hull to his ranks as he prepares for what he hopes will be a busy end to the season.

The Glassboys are still in the latter stages of the FA Trophy, as well as battling hard for promotion from the Northern Premier League.

The move for Hull was made due to Chris Knight having to step away from the game because of work and family commitments.

It left Hackett needing new recruits at the back and he wasted no time in approaching the Yeltz again.

Hull is yet another Town players to arrive at the Memorial Ground in recent times.

He will link up with former team-mate Kristian Green at Amblecote after he also made the move between the two clubs last summer. Midfielder Tom Tonks also joined the Glassboys at the start of the campaign but has since linked up with Telford.

Hull has had a spell out of the Yeltz side with injury this season but has still made 17 appearances this term.

Hackett said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joe to the club. He is someone I have always admired.

“He defends well, has a great attitude and is also a goal threat when he comes forward for set-pieces. He will be determined to force his way into the side and gives us good competition.

“I heard he wasn’t 100 per cent happy at Halesowen so we moved to get him onboard.

"He has always had solid games against us and has potential to get better.”

Hull is the Glassboys’ second recruit in recent days after the arrival of 19-year-old central defender Callum McFarlane.

He has come in from Cheltenham Town on non-contract terms to provide even more options.

McFarlane began his career with Birmingham City’s youth system before moving to Cheltenham in December 2013.

Meanwhile, the Glassboys were left frustrated by the weather in their quest to make further FA Trophy progress.

Last Saturday’s third round clash at Nantwich was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch before Tuesday night’s attempt to play the game also fell victim to the wet conditions.

Stour have been drawn at home to Dover or Guiseley in the quarter-finals should they beat overcome Nantwich.

That game will now be played on Tuesday night (February 16).

Their attention will first turn to league matters once more when they host third-from-bottom side Colwyn Bay at the Memorial Ground this Saturday (3pm).

“Colwyn Bay have had a mixed season, have a new manager and there are no easy games in this league,” added Hackett. “But it does give us the chance to pick up another win at home and put more points on the board.”

Matt Dodd will begin a three-game suspension this Saturday but club stalwart Leon Broadhurst could finally make his 600th appearance for the club.
