DUDLEY Town maintained their push for a top 10 finish with a thrilling win at Ellesmere Rangers.

The Robins secured a 3-2 victory last Saturday despite having to play on a 3G artificial pitch due to improvement works at Ellesmere's usual home ground.

"It was a really good performance from us," said manager Andy Allardice. "I was looking forward to the game because pitch meant both sides could play football.

"I love to get the ball down and pass it around and I challenged the players to let their ability come to the fore."

Goals from Aaron Lloyd, Jake Fairhurst and Chris Wedderburn handed Dudley a 3-1 half time advantage.

A second for Rangers in the second period made for a nervy finish but Allardice praised the way his team got the job done.

"We are a young side and a big thing for us to learn is how to manage games better," added the boss.

"We need to make sure we control things when we're in front, which is exactly what we did.

"The win keeps us in the hunt for a top 10 finish still and hopefully we can keep progressing.

"I have spoken to a lot of the senior players already and explained to them what we want to build here and how we want to move forwards. Hopefully they buy into what we are trying to do and will stay with us next season."

Town are due to face Willenhall Town at home on Wednesday before Haughmond visit the Dell this Saturday.

Rivals Dudley Sports, who currently sit in 10th place in the West Midlands League, had their game at Bromyard Town called off due to heavy rainfall last Saturday.

They are now set for a busy week. They are due to welcome Bilston Town to Hillcrest Avenue tomorrow before going to the rearranged Bromyard clash on Thursday.

The week will culminate in a home derby clash with Cradley Town this Saturday (3pm).
