STOURBRIDGE Rugby Club's social sides are set to clash for charity tomorrow.
This day will prove unlucky for one of the club’s amateur sides as they bring the curtain down on the season when they compete for bragging rights in the ‘Clash of the Titans’ trophy.
Stourbridge Lions Seconds (also known as the Greyhounds) and the Lions Thirds (Grasshoppers) will take to the first-team pitch on Friday night aiming to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan was chosen after club president John Slim’s wife, Caroline Benton, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Benton received vital support from Macmillan during her subsequent months of treatment on the Georgina Ward at Russells Hall Hospital.
The mighty Grasshoppers will be looking to inflict a rare defeat on their illustrious and very young opponents, who recently finished a respectable fourth in the North Midlands Reserve League Division Three.
Both teams will take to the field in their new sponsored kits with all proceeds from shirt sales, gate receipts and the raffle split between the charity and the club's development fund.
The fun starts at 7pm. Admission is £5 for adults.
For more information contact the club on 01384 395000 or John Slim on 07989 786913.
