BELBROUGHTON remain in the drop zone following a defeat against neighbours Hagley last Saturday.

Visitors Hagley bagged a six-wicket win when the sides met at Hackman’s Gate in Division One of the Worcestershire County League.

The hosts had posted 274-7 from their 50 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat.

William Pardoe top scored for them with 72. Geoff Day’s 51 also helped them to a decent total.

However, Paul Morgan’s 94 helped Hagley chase down the target with one over to spare for the loss of four wickets.

Belbroughton will look to pick up some vital points when the go to second-placed Colwall on Saturday, while Hagley entertain Cookley (both 1pm starts).

Meanwhile, Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social remain rooted to the foot of the table after defeat at Droitwich Spa.

They made 290 as Richard Milner (80) top scored with the bat. But it was a target that Spa knocked off in the 41st over after Max Young’s unbeaten 148.

Social go to Stourport-on-Severn on Saturday (1pm).

Pedmore lost by 104 runs at home to Colwall last weekend.

Their top order failed to fire as they looked to chase 276. They were eventually bowled out for 172 despite a spirited 62 from Dave Skelding.

Pedmore will look to bounce back when they travel to Worcester Nomads on Saturday (1pm).

In Division Two, Enville finally showed their potential with a vital win away at Wormelow.

After winning the toss they made steady progress and were 100-1 at drinks. This unusually good platform enabled the middle order to accelerate the innings with more freedom than normal, with Jono Howells completing a well composed 100 in decent time, alongside skip Matthew Branch (79). With more late hitting from James Willis, Enville posted a respectful 260-6 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Willis (3-13) struck early for the visitors. This along with some tight bowling from Enville’s Katie Parfitt (3-26) and Dan Sutton (2-31) meant Wormelow never looked like reaching their target.

Enville face relegation rivals Bromyard at home this Saturday (1pm).

Mid-table Lye lost by six wickets to Bromyard last weekend.

They will now welcome Evesham on Saturday (1pm).
