FA Women's Cup Preliminary Round 2

Burton Albion 3, Lye Town 1

Lye exited the FA Cup after being edged out by an impressive Burton Albion side at Rocester FC.

The game was even until Burton took the lead with a fine individual goal, then doubled their lead within minutes after the defence failed to clear a Burton attack.

Lye got themselves back into the game when Clare Williamson was brought down in the box by the Burton keeper who received a booking, and Katie Priest converted the resulting penalty.

The game continued to be an even affair after the break with Lye pushing for the equaliser.

Burton were equally dangerous on the break and seemingly put the game beyond Lye with a volleyed goal from the edge of the box after a corner was partially cleared.

The Lyeonesses return to league action this week when they travel to third-placed Wrockwardine Wood.
