MANAGER Dave King says Tividale can now build on their first win of the season.

Tivi secured a much-needed 3-1 victory against AFC Wulfrunians at the Beeches last Saturday.

Though King's men remain bottom of the Midland Football League's premier division, the boss is hopeful his players can take confidence from their first three points of the campaign.

A brace from Dan Smith and a Lewis McPike strike handed Dale the win.

King said: "It's great to finally get the first win on the board. It just lifts everyone at the club.

"Everytime you suffer defeat doubt slowly creeps in. Confidence and team moral is such a big thing and picking up wins can only help that.

"We played really well for the whole 90 minutes and deserved the win. I'd have taken a scrappy 1-0 but the performance was good as well.

"It is important we build on our first victory now.

"It is going to be a tough task for us this season, especially with the budget we have compared to others in the league, but we are heading in the right direction. This will help us believe in ourselves."

Tividale's success was aided by impressive debut showings from Matt Hunt, Joe Hull, and Joe Bates.

On-loan Worcester City player Bates started in central midfield with new signing Hunt and Stourbridge's on-loan defender Joe Hull forming a new centre back pairing at the back.

Former Stour youth coach King used his connections with the Glassboys to secure Hull, much like he did when Stuart Pierpoint turned out for Tivi earlier in the season.

Hull is also set to be available for the next two games as he looks to find match sharpness.

"All three did really well and had a good impact, which is what you are looking for," added the boss.

Dale are due to go to Loughborough University tonight before a trip to face Quorn this Saturday.

King was due to name a unchanged first team squad for the first time this season.

"Matt Hunt had to come off with cramp on Saturday, which is understandable because he hasn't played much football recently, but he should be fine," said King.

"It means we could name an unchanged squad this week for the first time. That is also a big thing for us and is something else that has improved for us."
