STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett says it's time for his "wounded" players to turn talking into action if they want to get their season back on track.

The Glassboys are facing a crucial week as they look to return to winning ways following three games without success.

A 1-1 draw at Coalville and a 2-1 loss at Blyth Spartans in the league was followed by a 1-0 defeat in the Birmingham Senior Cup against Stratford on Monday night.

Hackett thinks his players need to maintain their intensity for 90 minutes if they want to catapult themselves back towards the promotion picture in the Northern Premier League or enjoy more cup joy.

He said: "I think we deserved something from the game against Blyth on our second half performance.

"We are having one of those spells when things aren't quite going our way and we're not getting the bounce of the ball at key times.

"You make your own fortune though and it is clear there is room for improvement. We are wounded by recent results and that could do us a favour.

"In spells we are very good, but we need to play at our best for the whole game.

"One good week in football can change everything. Three good wins and before you know it you are right up there.

"We know we need to do better and have spoken about it. But the time for talking is over, now we have to go and put it into practice."

Stour will face King's Lynn Town at Amblecote in the FA Trophy this Saturday (3pm kick-off) before a home league clash with Corby Town on Monday night (7.45pm).

"The FA Trophy, like the FA Cup, is a competition that we want to go far in," added Hackett.

"We did well last year and want to follow that up again. We will be doing everything we can to get through before turning our attention to an important three points against Corby.

"Add to those games the FA Cup trip to Whitehawk and the next three games are very important for the club."

Should either the Glassboys or Corby, who entertain Stafford Ranger, draw on Saturday in the FA Trophy then Monday’s game will have to be rescheduled for a later date. Any replay between Stourbridge and King’s Lynn would be staged at their Walks Stadium base on Tuesday, November 1.

Stour have bolstered their ranks with the loan signing of Connor Gater from Worcester City and are still on the look out for other additions after both Aaron Daniels and Jack Duggan suffered set-backs in their recovery from injury.
