DUDLEY Kingswinford's hopes of gatecrashing this season's Midlands One West promotion party suffered a major set-back with defeat at second-placed Bournville.

Fourth-placed DK lost 32-7 last Saturday as their seven-game winning streak came to a shuddering halt.

Director of rugby Neil Shillingford admits the best team won on the days but is now keen for his players to bounce back quickly from the disappointment, especially with third-placed Burton the visitors to Heathbrook this Saturday (2.15pm kick-off).

He said: "Bournville have became something of a bogey side for us in recent seasons and that continued.

"Overall they managed the game much better than we did. They played to their strengths and we let them.

"They have a big pack and like to play from set-piece to set-piece at a slower tempo than we would like.

"We struggled to impose our game on them and while the scoreline flattered them a little bit, we can't have any complaints.

"The important thing for us now is that we draw a line under it and move on.

"Burton is a very winnable game for us at home and it is important we get back to winning ways."

The coach is also keen for his players to end the season well to show how much they have progressed this term, regardless of if they fall short of a top-two finish.

He added: "It is going to be tough now to secure a play-off place but we still need to make sure we're in their fighting.

"We want to end the season as high as we possibly can and our first challenge is to try and cut the gap to Burton, which is why Saturday is so important.

"We finished sixth last season so anything above their will mean we have progressed and will have something to build on looking to the future."

DK should be boosted by the return of Tom Huggins for the Burton clash now he has overcome a rib injury.
