BEACON League clubs turned their attention to the cup scene this week and produced a goal glut.

No fewer than 59 goals were served up in seven ties, as three teams struck double figures to progress to the quarter finals of the Lester Charity Cup.

Leading the way in goal terms were Pensnett Panthers who swamped Wyrley Targaryens 12-0, the deadly duo of Ryan Cartwright and Dean Burton showing no mercy with four apiece. The Hill brothers, Lewis and Grant, along with Tim Woodhall and Steve Jeavons made it a round dozen.

Bushbury Rovers extended their impressive form, easing to a 10-0 win over visiting Pensnett Youth, as leading marksman Kyle Matthews bagged five, while Kyle Crutchley three, Errol Jones and Patrick Rafferty set up an intriguing quarter final clash away to holders Dynamo Dudley.

Dynamo, likewise, hit the goal trail, emerging comfortable 10-1 victors at injury hit Codsall Station. Understrength Codsall, who are seeking new recruits, felt the force of three-goal Leon Naylor, Ben Hickman, Joe Lawley (both two), Aaron Lloyd, Scott Lloyd and Rob Batham.

FC Premier edged a thrilling encounter at Whitmore Reans by the odd goal in seven, but not before the latter had led twice in the first period.

A Kyle Thorp brace helped secure a place in the last eight for FC Premier, who also had Elliot Milward and Jack Wooldridge on target. Just missing out for Whitmore were two-goal Mario Mendes and Shakhawan Ali.

Old Cross Athletic clinched their spot in the next stage after hitting four second half goals against battling Pendeford. After a goalless first period, Old Cross earned the victory with efforts from Adam Jones, Nathan Barrett, Jared Kallah and Jordan Smart.

The Lester Charity Cup quarter final draw is: FC Premier v Sandwell Action or Black Country Fusion, Dynamo Dudley v Bushbury Rovers, Old Cross v Pensnett Panthers, Springvale Steelers or Old Bush v Claregate Rangers.

Two opening ties were played in the group stages of the Lawsons sponsored Clinton Cup and both provided plenty of goal action. In the first, Black Country Fusion just got the better of hosts Shere Punjab 5-4, while Springvale Steelers hit back from 3-0 down to draw at Old Bush.
