HEATHENS rider Danny Ayres is on target to face his former club on Monday.

The fans' favourite has been struggling with muscle damage over the last few weeks but is determined to make it back for the clash with Kent at Monmore Green.

It’s the first meeting in three weeks for Cradley after a hectic May saw them pick up vital league points.

Boss Will Pottinger said: “Danny has told us he is expecting to be back riding this weekend and that’s good news for us on Monday.

“It’s important for us to get a win on Monday, we know it will be a tough meeting because Kent have good riders and I’m expecting a good meeting.

“It’s been a long wait for our fans to see the lads in action again and it will be good to see a big crowd.

“I know our lads have been frustrated at the lack of action, but once we get June out of the way we’re busy again in July.

“It’s just the way the fixture list has panned out and we have to take what we’ve got. I’m looking for three points on Monday.”

Pottinger insists the target is for a top four spot by September.

“It’s a tough league and our aim is to get into the play-offs,” he said. “Peter Adams, the most successful team manager of all, is always keen to point out it’s all about September and October, not just the summer.

“It’s the end of the season when trophies are decided and on our part we will just keep the points tally ticking over when we can.”

Meanwhile, limited tickets remain on sale for nights with Heathens legends Lance King (June 29 at Halesowen Cricket Club) and Greg Hancock (July 20 at Cleveland Arms, Wolverhampton) and can be purchased on Monday at the club shop and at sportstalkevents.co.uk/bookingoffice or from the venues direct.
