HIMLEY'S stuttering home form let them down again as they slipped to defeat against Tamworth.

They failed to build on the previous week's win at leaders Shifnal as they suffered an eight-wicket loss last Saturday.

The Stourbridge Road side made just 173 after losing the toss and being put into bat. Daniel Durman top scored with 39 as the hosts fell short of a big total.

Opener Jacob Flower's unbeaten 79 helped guide the visitors to the points by the 34th over.

Himley have now won just half of their eight home games this season and skipper Greg Wright admits his players need to show more resilience if they are to trouble the top two this term.

He said: "It was a bad toss to lose. The wicket was going sideways for the first 20-25 overs even though we've had a lot of dry weather.

"We were put into bat and were then just surviving for much of the time early on.

"A key decision didn't go our way at a crucial time but then we've had a decent partnership between Dan Durman and Bilaal Hussain that we couldn't build on. After that we have collapsed.

"We were still in the game and set ourselves clear aims and plans that we just didn't stick to.

"We dropped some easy catches as well and in the end didn't deserve to take anything from the game."

The captain thinks his players need to get back to basics if they want to turn their inconsistent home form around.

He added: "We just aren't doing the basics right and are finding ourselves behind in games and unable to come back.

"I don't think it's because we are a young team, we just don't seem to be able to grind out results. Like any decent level of sport, you have to be able to dig in.

"The spirit and attitude of the squad is absolutely fine but we just need to show more resilience, especially at home were we seem to be finding it difficult."

Himley won't have to wait long to put things right as they host bottom side Attock this Saturday (noon start).

"We are at home again this weekend so we have to bounce back and put them under pressure.

"We know the quality we have. Man-for-man we are as good as anyone but we must get the basics right before anything else."
