HIMLEY skipper Greg Wright says it's his side's consistency in recent weeks that has kept them well within striking distance of the promotion places.

Himley are in third place in Division One of the Birmingham and District Premier League but just one point away from second-placed Moseley.

Wright's men continued their fine form with a seven-wicket win at home to Walmley last Saturday.

Chris Boroughs (3-50), Jamie Turner (3-56) and Stuart Wedge (3-62) helped bowl out their visitors for 255 on the good Stourbridge Road surface.

Opener Bilaal Hussain's 83 and an unbeaten 71 from Sri Lankan Nipun Karunanayake then helped the hosts to chase down their target for another vital victory.

Wright said: "It was a good day for us. They put one good partnership together but we stuck to our plans, caught really well and knew 255 was a gettable target.

"We still had to bat well but we did that. It was a good all-round performance from us again.

"There is no reason we can't keep it going now. I asked for consistency and we have found that at an important time.

Himley will look to keep the heat on the top two when they go to Leamington this Saturday (noon start).

"Leamington have had a mixed season but we know that if we perform to the consistent levels we have shown over the last three weeks then we'll be difficult to beat.

"The league is tightly packed and it's important we just keep churning out good performances. The spirit and attitude is good."

Wright has no injury or absence worries ahead of the weekend.
