STOURBRIDGE shot putter Rachel Wallader has been selected by Great Britain for next month's IAAF World Athletics Championships.
The event will be held in London at the Olympic Stadium from August 4 - August 13, with Wallader's qualification event beginning on Tuesday, August 8.
The Stour athlete has shown big improvements over the last 12 months but has also had to recover from the disappointment of failure to qualify for last year's Rio Olympics.
However, she can now finally look forward to showing what she can do on the world stage.
Wallader said: "I'm so happy to have been given the opportunity to compete in my biggest competition yet.
"For it to be a home games is great. I can't wait to see and hear the atmosphere.
"It's been a tough year this year so to be selected for these championships feels amazing. I can't wait to get out there and compete."
An impressive showing in London could set her up perfectly ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games in Australia.
