BLACK Country Triathlete Ben Monkton travelled to Snowdonia last weekend to compete in the Snowman full distance triathlon.

The contest involved a 1km swim in Llyn Mymbyr at Plas y Brenin, a 70km ride through the heart of Snowdonia National Park which he says had stunning views, good fast descents and hard climbs, followed by a brutal 9km run with the first 3km gaining about 650m of ascent to the summit of Moel Siabod.

Monkton finished in an overall time of 3.44.36 and seventh overall.

Several other BCT athletes raced a little closer to home at the Blithfield Sprint and Standard Triathlon.

Keith Bate carried on his fantastic form for the season and came home first for the club in the Sprint race in a time of 1.17.02 placing him first in the over 60 age group.

Oliver Evans also raced he sprint and finished third junior in a time of 1.18.32 and Leigh-Ann Adams finished in 1.48.51 and fifth female veteran.

Edward Horgan competed in the standard distance race and finished in 3.01.13, 25th Super Vet.

Junior athlete Noah Sandland also took part in the Blithfield aquathlon with a 400m swim and a 3km run.
