LUCKLESS Lye Town must have realised it wasn't going to be their day even before they'd kicked-off against rivals Quorn.

Lye lost out 3-0 to the Leicestershire side and joint boss Craig Harris explained: "Everything that could go wrong, went wrong before the game.

"We had to delay our departure for half an hour as goalkeeper Charlie Price was late getting away from work.

"Then the coach driver took us to wrong ground and we ended up at Loughborough University instead and had to do a u-turn back to Quorn.

"But to make matters worse, Charlie Price goes and injuries himself while warming up in the short time we had, so goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts had to take over in goal.

"It didn't help that we had a number of players unavailable before the game as we were already missing Sam Tye, Dan Flowers, Matt Martin and Kalum Evitts.

"Despite all that, we played well in the first half and went in 0-0 at half time. But then things caught up with us in the second half."

Lye have slipped down to 13th place as a result of this defeat.

They have no fixture this Saturday but then travel to Hereford side Westfields next Wednesday.

Harris insists: "The break will do us good and we'll be able to draw a line under the fiasco at Quorn.

"The Midland League Premier is really tough this season and it hasn't helped that we've lost Ben Billingham for the time being. He suffered a knee injury while playing against Paget Rangers and is due to have a scan on it this week.

"But I've got no complaints about the players and their commitment. They have been giving us everything this season and we'll continue to battle above our weight."
