ADAM Roynon, one of the most popular riders to represent Cradley in the modern era, is back with the club.

Cumbrian racer Roynon, who broke his leg trying to win the league for Heathens in 2012, is the first name on their National Trophy roster for the new season.

And he admits it’s a dream move to be reunited with Heathens fans and bosses alike after his two injury-hit seasons with the Monmore Green side.

He said: “Their fans and their management are people who genuinely care about their riders.

“But there’s also a lot of expectation because of how much they care and as a rider it’s my duty to perform to the best of my ability.

“I’ve gained even more experience since I last rode for the club and hopefully I can come back in and do the job that is expected of me.

“From the management, from the fans and from myself there is a high level of expectancy, especially at this level, and we all know that I should be scoring double figures in every meeting I do.”

Heathens have signed Roynon with the aim of him appearing in all eight National Trophy fixtures and the Golden Hammer individual.

Club boss Gary Patchett said: “Adam was delighted to come back to us, even in a reduced fixture list.

“He has unfinished business and wants to do well for us. I’d already suggest he will be a contender for the Golden Hammer!

“We hope this gives the Heathens fans some renewed enthusiasm as we look to keep the club on track in 2018.”
