WOLLASTON Lawn Tennis Club (WLTC) members were out again braving the elements for their 2018 Valentine's Day Tournament last weekend.
In a new format to the tournament, 20 members signed up playing a series of 'round robin' rounds over Saturday afternoon in chilly temperatures. Thankfully the rain stayed away throughout the three hour tournament at the Prestwood Drive Club.
The main tournament was won by Chris Brown and Bec Yates, with Paul Wootton and Pam Cartwright close behind in second place. Each round of the event comprises eight game matches, with sudden death deuces.
The mixed pairs split after four games so it is a really good format and the tennis is always good quality. This is traditionally the first tournament of the calendar year for WLTC.
Tournament organiser Max Bywater said: "We have now run the Valentine's Day tournament for the last three years and it has proved to be really successful hence running it again this year. Despite the recent chilly weather, it was therefore to see the tournament so well supported and some great tennis played."
