CHRIS Boroughs took eight wickets as Himley brushed aside a depleted Kidderminster side last Saturday.

Himley put the league leaders to the sword at Stourbridge Road to record a comfortable 10 wicket win and lift themselves further away from the Division One dropzone.

KCC had been hit by the loss of captain Neil Pinner and Andrew and Richard Kimberlin before the game due to batsman Matt Pardoe's wedding. Connor Smith was also absent as the visitors were forced into a host of changes.

However, ruthless Himley took advantage to bag their first victory in seven games.

Kidderminster won the toss and chose to bat but were soon on the back foot as Boroughs struck. Ben Twohig top scored with just 14 as KCC were bowled out for 78.

Himley openers Oliver Westbury (64) and Bilaal Hussain (10) made sure the home side reached their target without loss.

Skipper Greg Wright was delighted with the win.

He said: "They had a few missing so I won't dress it up as beating the true top of the league side but the main thing is that we got the job done.

"Chris Borough's figures speak for themselves, we were good in the field and clinical with the bat.

"It was an outstanding day, we are now three unbeaten and it feels like we're going in the right direction again. It also gives us an outside chance of getting in the promotion picture.

"There is still a long way to go and if we play as we have been then hopefully we can be in the top half and maybe even pushing towards the top two."

Wright was full of praise for eight-wicket hero Boroughs, adding: "I was one of his best days and he fully deserved it.

"He's been bowling without much luck all season but it came back in spades on Saturday.

"He's one of our most consistent performers. Like me, he's not the youngest, but you can't replace that class and quality. Everyone was delighted for him."

Himley will now be looking for back-to-back wins when they go to Oswestry this Saturday.
