CAPTAIN Josh Banks is targeting a return to winning ways this Saturday as Stourbridge look to re-establish their strong position at the top.

Stour still sit at the head of affairs in Birmingham and District League Division Three but have had their lead cut to just 13 points following back-to-back draws.

They found themselves defending 163 at the War Memorial Ground last weekend after Milford Hall put them under pressure with the ball despite stand-in skipper Jitesh Jivan-Patel winning the toss and batting first.

Nathan Crudeli's vital 61 kept them in with a chance after losing early wickets.

However, Stour not only defended the low score but secured nine Milford Hall wickets to force an important winning draw.

That followed the previous weekend's losing draw against Handsworth and has led to Banks calling for more when they go to Redditch this Saturday (noon start).

He said: "It's a difficult one because we've still not lost a game yet.

"We've also shown a lot of character recently so there is still a positive atmosphere.

"Obviously when you're on top then all eyes are on you and we now have to show something this weekend.

"It would be great to bounce back.

"Redditch have a good seam attack but we still beat them convincingly at our place so hopefully we can do the same now."

Banks had to miss the Milford clash but returns to lead the side once again this weekend.

He will be without key men Matt Bradley, Harshad Patel and Jitesh Jivan-Patel and will have to look to the club's second XI to fill the gaps.

He added: "We do have people missing but the players we're looking at should fit in quite nicely and could also improve us in the field as well."
