CRADLEY’S Golden Hammer individual event at Wolverhampton next Monday is too hard to call.

That’s the view of club co-promoter Nigel Pearson with a bumper crowd expected at Monmore Green next Monday, August 13, writes Taylor Lanning.

But Pearson has singled out Drew Kemp, the 15-year-old sensation who has dazzled crowds up and down the country with his stunning scores, as a potential winner.

“Why not Drew?” said Pearson. “I see a lot of speedway throughout Europe and this kid has got something special.

“It’s a great line-up for the Hammer, Gary Patchett and Will Pottinger have once again done a great job and it will be a keenly competitive meeting.

“People talk about Robert Lambert and the great success he’s had this season as the new British sensation but I also feel Drew will be in the same bracket in two or three years – along with another Heathens favourite Jason Edwards.

“It’s been great to have these lads with Cradley this season and I’m sure they will be in contention on Monday.”

Pearson has also sung the praises of former favourite Max Clegg, who is now riding for Stoke.

“Max had a great time riding for us, we took him as a young kid from Scunthorpe and all we did was win trophies with him in the side,” he said.

“So it’s great to have him in the Hammer field along with another former favourite Danny Ayres, he would dearly love to win the meeting and celebrate in style! The sport needs characters like Danny.”

Children are admitted free for the event and there will be a collection on behalf of meeting partners Dudley Stroke Association during the interval.

The race jackets from the meeting will also be available from the track shop immediately after the presentations.

LINE-UP: Ellis Perks, Jason Edwards, Alfie Bowtell, Drew Kemp (Cradley), Tom Bacon, Connor Coles, Max Clegg, Danny Ayres, Danny Phillips, Tom Brennan, Ben Morley, Cooper Riordan, Josh Coyne.
