LEADERS Stourbridge will look to take a big step toward title success when they host Old Hill this Saturday.

A victory from the clash at the War Memorial Ground could see Stour extend their lead heading into the final six games.

They go into the vital clash on the back of last weekend's win against Newport.

Stour skipper Josh Banks led from the front scoring 65 when his team were in trouble 85-5 against Newport.

Bank’s knock set up the much-needed 24 points to keep Stour at the top of Division Three of the Birmingham and District League after a string of drawn matches and an abandoned contest had threatened their dominance.

Stour got the job done with the ball thanks to the threat of spinner Hasnain Nawaz (4-17).

Banks said: "We were in trouble when I came in but managed to get a good score on a difficult surface in the end.

"Whenever we have needed someone to step up this season they have done it. If it has to be someone different from the previous week then that's happened. It was just my turn this time.

"Our score was decent and we just had to get it right with the ball to pick up another good win.

"We are on the run-in now and it's an important game against Old Hill coming up.

"All the games in this league are important but this is against another contender so it could be really important. We respect them as a side and know it is going to be tough.

"It's a game I think everyone is looking forward to and the mindset is really positive at the moment.

"We had a bit of a blip but are still in a really strong position to try and finish strongly."

Stour will be boosted by the return of both Matt Bradley and Dwayne Crossgill this weekend.
