LEAGUE leaders Stourbridge took another big step towards title glory with a commanding win over Lichfield.

Overseas star Nathan Crudeli bagged a five-wicket haul as Stour bowled the hosts out for just 71 at Collins Hill last Saturday.

He accounted for the top order before Jitesh Jivan-Patel got in on the act to leave Lichfield reeling on 29-6 after they'd won the toss and chose to bat.

Stour soon cleared out the tail in double-quick time to set up another success.

The visitors did lose Jujhar Johal, Ali Rashid and Matt Bradley in reply but Marvarick Perry and Crudeli guided them home in the 15th over.

The win maintains Stour's undefeated tag this term as they continue to lead the way heading into the final weeks of the Birmingham and District League Division Three season.

They are now 27 points ahead of second-placed Rugby and 47 ahead of third-placed Old Hill.

Captain Josh Banks said: "It was a comfortable win for us. That is twice we have beaten them this season and they looked a couple of players short to me, but we still had to make sure we got the job done.

"Nathan Crudeli bowled really well and we are happy with the performance."

Stour will look to edge nearer the title when they host Whitchurch at the War Memorial Ground on Saturday (noon start) before a trip to Old Elizabethans on Bank Holiday Monday.

"Another good couple of games this weekend and we will be within touching distance of the title," added Banks.

"Our long-term goal is to also try and stay unbeaten but we'll be taking it one step at a time."
