A MAGNIFICENT seven youngsters from Academy Martial Arts are celebrating after they passed their first degree black belt in kickboxing.
They were tested on a variety of techniques to show their technical ability, completed 10 rounds of sparring and were took through a tough, non stop fitness circuit.
On top of the three-hour practical exam, students also had to write an essay on their martial arts journey which consisted of no less than 1,000 words.
Master instructor Dan Woodruff said: “These guys have done fantastic to pass their black belts.
“To think that some of them started because of being bullied at school, it’s amazing to see the transformation in them.
“Not only have they improved physically, it’s great to see how much their confidence and self esteem has improved to complete this challenging black belt exam.”
