STOURBRIDGE Running Club’s Simon Link battled driving rain and strong winds to seal an impressive double.

The veteran endured treacherous conditions at the Snowdon Marathon to finish tenth overall and claim victory in the over-45s category with a time of 2hrs 59m.

It followed his recent win in the Pattingham Bells seven mile event, as he crossed the line in 42m 34s.

There was success for a number of Stour runners at both events.

Matt Raden took 12th in Snowdown with a time of 3.01, followed by Gary Griffiths in 3.20 and Dave Haden in 3.39.

At Pattingham Mike Anslow was the second best with a time of 46.59, with Dave Rose next in at 47.43 and James Sutton in 54.33.

Joan Clarke was the first Stour woman back in 57.31, while there were also good performances from Zoe Yeomans in 1hr 4m and Melanie Williams and Elaine Chambers, who finished together in 1hr 8m 28s.

Seven Stour runners took on an undulating course at the Coventry half marathon, Kirk Andrews recording the fastest time as he finished 191st in 1hr 37m 16s.

He was closely followed by Dave Rose and Mike Anslow in times of 1.37.19 and 1.37.20 respectively.

There were also strong performance from Laurence Leeming-Latham, Loes Hartman, James Sutton and Zoe Yeomans.

The club’s A team finished 15th at the Sennellys Park 10km cross country, Matt Giles recording the fastest time as he finished 47th in 37m 37s.

Jason Cornes came in 66th in 38.29, Andy Aston was 85th in 39.44, Dave Rose was 107th in 40.58, Mike Anslow 111th in 41.22 and Pete Walters 117th in 41.42.

There were also good runs in the B team from Andy Boardman, who finished 154th in 45.28, and Dave Sheppard who came 163rd in 45.53.

Louise Collins was first back for the women in the 6km Cross Country Challenge, as she finished with a time of 27.29.

Zoe Yeomans was next back in 36.23, with Sarah Elcock, taking part in her first cross country, home in 40.31 and Sarah Evans back in 43.15.
