KINVER Constitutional took advantage of a bye week for the Stourbridge Snooker League Premier Division’s other leading teams to open up a four point gap with a 3-2 win at Townsend.

To their great credit, Townsend opening up a 2-0 lead through Rob Thompson and Bill Pomeroy, who recovered from a 20 point deficit to beat Andrew Highfield.

But Darren Oakes, James Hill and Jason Hickman all won comfortably to turn the match around and seal the 3-2 victory for Kinver.

Ash Aston, Rob Pitt and Graham Tomkins gave Norton Social A a hard fought 3-2 victory gained at Hot Shots SC, who earned two points through Lee Washbrook and Roy Stokes.

Lying in third place, Norton remain ten points off the top, whereas Hot Shots slipped to the foot of the table as a result of Brierley Hill SC C's 4-1 victory against West Midland Police. Neil Gennard, Simon Dingly, Lee Whitehouse and Andy Watts combined to give Brierley Hill their best result of the season.

Bearwood Cons B beat their A team 3-2 thanks to Paul Vyze with a 63 break, Chris Price and Wayne Bently, while Pockets did well to win 3-2 on the tables of Amblecote Institute A, where Andrew Smith beat Rob Clark on the black on the decider.

First Division: Stourbridge Institute A had a 4-1 success at Kingswinford RBL A, a victory which allowed them to snatch a single point advantage at the top.

Cyril Tromans, Paul Bates, Phil Fitzpatrick and Paul Garbett won well contested frames, while Steve Small's 44 break earned the Legion a point.

Former joint leaders Amblecote RBL won 3-2 at Kingswinford Snooker Centre with Barry Young, Mark Jeffries and Rob Boylin seeing them home.

Meanwhile Netherton Liberals remain in close contention after a 4-1 victory at home to fourth placed Kingswinford Cons A and trail the leaders by just four points with a game in hand.

Langley Bowling Club eased their relegation fears a little with a narrow 3-2 victory against the bottom team Amblecote Institute C.

Craig Whitmore, Mark Nemedi and Graham Pearson were their winners but Mick Cook and Graham Holdnall took a frame each for Amblecote, who are only four points adrift with a match in hand.

Dibdale SC also pulled clear when Chris Jeavons, Dave Timmins and Laurence Binfield combined to defeat Kinver Constitutional B 3-2, a result which leaves Kinver in the bottom three, although Robin Hall and Arnold Tromans grabbed some consolation for them.

Second Division: Having moved to the top of the second division for the first time last week, Amblecote Institute D ensured that they would remain there with a 4-1 victory against their E team.
