Heathens 69 Buxton 23

DUDLEY Heathens maintained their 100 per cent National League record with a demolition of Buxton.

There were maximums for Adam Roynon, Tom Perry and Ashley Morris as the home riders won all 15 heats.

Rampant Heathens recorded nine 5-1s as they took ruthlessly pushed aside the stunned visitors.

Buxton only took a share of the spoils in heat 11, with Rob Branford finishing second on a tactical ride.

It’s now six wins from six for the Heathens in the National League and ten wins on the spin in all competitions.

The victory wasn’t unexpected, given the Heathens had racked up 65 points in both of their previous meeting with the Hitmen this term. But even so this was a special performance.

While the home side were relentless, the visitors wilted as they endured a miserable night.

Buxton saw riders crash in each of the first three heats while the hapless Ryan Blacklock fell four times on the night and Richard Andrews suffered a suspected broken thumb in heat nine.

For Dudley, skipper Roynon was once again in stunning form, winning all four of his heats with ease.

His only nervy moment came in heat six when he missed the gate and collided with Adam McKinna on the first bend. But he picked himself up to cruise home in the re-run.

Struggling Buxton attempted a tactical ride in heat seven but saw Luke Priest finish last behind the home duo of Ash Morris and Darryl Ritchings.

Branford looked like the only visitor capable of challenging the home riders and he was denied victory in heat five by a brilliant last lap overtake from Perry.

In the final heat of the night Branford went for broke, taking the lead in the opening lap only for the Heathens duo of Perry and Morris to charge back in thrilling style to cap a commanding team display.
