Greenwood: We don't fear Mildenhall

DAN Greenwood insists Heathens have no fears about facing Mildenhall in the business end of the season.

Greenwood, back in the sport after a three-year self imposed exile, says the former Cradley club have what it takes to go all the way and complete a famous league and cup double.

They will race their play-off semi-final at Monmore Green on Tuesday, September 25 and will have choice of opponents from Mildenhall, Stoke and Scunthorpe.

But on paper it seems likely they will face the Suffolk side in both the play-off and Knockout Cup finals.

Greenwood said: “Finishing top of the league is a superb achievement and we have been going really well all season.

“It has been great to be a part of the side and winning so many meetings. “Obviously this is my first year back so I am not too sure how they did in previous years but I don’t think there is a better team to be in this season.

“It is important that we do well in the play-offs because that’s when it really matters. “The last result was great and we have been doing well so we need to carry that form on.

“I think we can beat Mildenhall at home whenever we face them, so if we can pull out a big enough lead then there is no reason why we can’t beat them away and win over two legs.”

Heathens colleague Ashley Morris says finishing top of the table will count for nothing if they miss out in the play-offs.

He said: “We’re all happy with finishing top of the league. We have all kept our heads all season and we have had confidence in what we have been doing.

“The team have showed from the start just how good we are.

“In the play-offs we have to make it count, because finishing top won’t really mean anything if we don’t win them.

“We’re all going in there to win so we will be a bit gutted if we don’t come out as champions.

“Obviously it is a tough competition with Mildenhall looking strong.

“But we will go in there with the same attitude as we normally have.

“Mildenhall are our main rivals but I don’t see why we can’t beat them in the league and in the cup. We all know what we have got to do and I think we can beat them.”
