Brierley Hill set the early pace

BRIERLEY Hill Sports Bar A are the early pacesetters in the Stourbridge Snooker League after beating West MIdlands Police 3-2.

John Pritchett edged past Pete Gibbon with Luke Garland and Callum Downing also taking wins. WInners for the Police were Mark Sheehan and Kev Franklin.

Norton Social A are second after being pipped 3-2 at Amblecote Institute A, where Rick Wooldridge won the decider against Rob Pitt.

Last season's champions Kinver Constitutional A began their campaign with a narrow 3-2 home success against Pockets SC A.

Chris Jones and Andy Highfield won for Kinver but father and son pairing Rich and Tom Pepperall squared the match at 2-2.

Kevin Ellis then looked certain to take the decider for Pockets but jawed the pink to allow James Hill, who had most wins in the division last season,to step in and take the match.

Newly promoted Stourbridge Institute began with a fine 3-2 victory at home against Brierley Hill Sports Bar B. In another thrilling game, Paul Garbett recovered from 40 points adrift to edge out Richard Brookes in the final frame.

Hot Shots SC, who finished third last season, were 3-2 winners at Pockets SC B.

First Division: Amblecote RBL claimed a hard-fought 3-2 success at Kingswinford RBL A thanks to wins for Chris Jevons, Steve Ball and Rob Boylin.

Amblecote Institute B dropped just one frame away at Norton Social B while Netherton Sports and Social took all five frames away to Kinver Constitutional C, including a debut win for Steve Howells.

They share top spot with Amblecote RBL, while Kingswinford Cons A are just one point adrift after a tight 3-2 win at newly-promoted Stourbridge Inst B.

Another match of close finishes saw Kingswinford SC just prevail against Wombourne. Adrian Stephenson, returning to the team, John Byng and Paul Ross' decider secure a 3-2 scoreline.

Brierley Hill Sports Bar D came away from Dibdale SC with a 5-0 win.

Second Division: Kinver Constitutional D blanked out Amblecote Institute E as Paul Churchman, Bob Jones, Graham Tranter, Keith Rollinson and Matt West all won.

Kinver hold a three point advantage over Amblecote C team at the top, after coming away from Stourbridge Inst C with a 3-2 win.

Last season’s cup winners Baggeridge Social enjoyed their first win after a 4-1 success away to Amblecote D, while Kingswinford RBL B won their local derby against Kingswinford Cons B 3-2.
