JOHN Hill says Halesowen Town won’t get carried away despite an upturn in form.

Goal machine Ben Haseley cracked his second hat-trick in as many games as the Yeltz won 3-0 at Sheffield, the world’s oldest football club, last weekend, their second win on the spin which moved them within sight of the Northern League Division One South play-off places.

Hill’s side have scored eight goals in the last two games while conceding none and will test themselves against second-placed Stamford at the Grove on Saturday.

The manager described it is a “massive game”.

He said: “It’s vital we build on these last two performances.

“Things have started to come together in the last couple of weeks but we must remember it is only two games.

“We need to produce this form for four or five games on the trot as this is a very tight and two or three wins can move you a long way.

“Stamford will be tough but I think it will be a good marker of where we have come in the last few weeks.”

Hill was delighted with another strong defensive display at Sheffield, while admitting he is running out of superlatives to describe Haseley, who has now scored 30 goals this season.

He said: “The great thing about Ben is how hard he works, he is a real team player.

“A lot of good strikers you end up tolerating because they don’t do much work outside the box but keep scoring when they get chances.

“But Ben is the complete opposite. Half the time you are shouting at him to push up because he drops back to help out.”

Defender Shabir Khan is facing a race to be fit for the visit of Stamford, after being forced off at Sheffield with a knee injury.

Gavin Winsper and Tom Warmer are also doubts.
