Thomas upbeat on Hammers boss search
6:00pm Thursday 24th January 2013 in Football
CRADLEY Town chairman Trevor Thomas says he has been inundated with applicants for the vacant managers position.
The Hammers chief is currently interviewing candidates but says he will not rush his decision.
Cradley were left managerless for the second time this season when Andy Mole quit earlier this month, after just 32 days in charge.
Thomas said: “We’ve got no need to worry as I’ve applications coming out of my ears.
“I’m really surprised at some of the people who are after the job. It’s a nice situation to be in.
“I’ve spoken to a couple of guys from the Midland Alliance and a few more from the West Midlands League, while there’s also someone from a professional club who wants to take it on.
“All being well we should have someone in place by next week but I’m not going to make a rash decision, whoever comes in has to be right for the club.”
Thomas also paid tribute to Mole and his assistant Mark Jones, who helped rebuild the squad after the sacking of Adrian Mander in early December.
He added: “I get on well with Andy, we are good mates and it was a tough situation.
“Whoever comes in will be coming into a good situation.
“We have a solid foundation with a good football team.”
Cradley are set to host Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday, though that will of course depend on the weather, which wiped out last weekend’s home game with Pegasus Juniors.
Mole’s new club, Causeway United, will also be hoping to return to action with a visit Kirby Muxloe this Saturday.
United are also scheduled to host Heather St John’s next Wednesday.
