JOHN Hill admits Saturday’s clash with Leek Town is a massive game for surging Halesowen Town.
The Yeltz head to Staffordshire looking to make it five wins in a row.
Hill’s side have plundered 14 goals during a winning run which has lifted them to sixth in Northern League Division One South and in striking distance of the play-off places.
But in Leek they face a side just four points behind and with three games in hand and Hill feels the game could prove crucial.
He said: “With three games in hand they have the chance to put real daylight between them and us.
“In that respect it’s a massive game for us as winning will almost wipe out that advantage.
“We will got there confident but they are a good side and can cause us problems.”
While Hill is delighted by his side’s recent form, he was quick to play down talk of a play-off push.
He added: “Everyone looks at the table and I’m no different.
“Supporters will talk about play-offs and that’s fine because every club must have a goal and getting into the play-offs is ours at Halesowen.
“But you have to be realistic and realise there are six or seven other teams in the hunt.
“We have some tough games still to play.
“It’s a cliche I know but the best thing we can do is take one game at a time and keep being positive.”
The Yeltz scored four superb goals as they beat Gresley 4-2 at the Grove last Saturday.
Three of the strikes belonged to Ben Haseley, who took his season tally to 33 and has now scored three hat-tricks in his last four games.
It was a performance which left everybody purring, not least Hill.
He said: “In all honesty in terms of the finishing it’s the best hat-trick I’ve ever seen.
“The first goal was wonderfully crafted and for me was the pick of the bunch. There was only one place he could put the ball to beat the keeper and he placed it perfectly.
“Aaron Griffiths’ goal was a superb strike in it’s own right but was almost overshadowed.”
