Darby slams Hammers defending

SLOPPY defending is costing Cradley Town dear, says boss Duane Darby.

The Hammers were left with nothing to show from positive performances against Shawbury United and Bewdley Town, losing the games 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.

While Darby was pleased with his players’ effort, he blamed both defeats on defensive slips and has called for a better showing this Saturday at Sporting Khalsa, where the Hammers will seek to end a run of three straight defeats.

He said: “Tuesday at Bewdley was a case in point, we were 2-0 down inside the first 10 minutes.

“After then we started playing and did well but the damage was done and we couldn’t rescue it.

“It’s frustrating because in football goals change games and you end up giving yourself work to do.”

He added: “We’ve had a tough run of games but we’ve got to start putting results on the board.

“No disrespect to Khalsa but it’s a game we should be looking to win.”

Cradley host title challengers Black Country Rangers on Tuesday (7.45pm).
