KIDDERMINSTER Harriers striker Ryan Rowe has returned to Stourbridge on a season long loan.
The former Glassboys hitman who made his name in the FA Cup triumph over Plymouth Argyle is set to feature in Saturday’s Southern League opener at AFC Totton.
Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett moved immediately once he was made aware Rowe had been made available for loan by Harriers even though he still had a year to run on his contract.
He said: “Financially there’s been quite a bit of give and take before coming to a conclusion which all three parties are happy with.
“But Ryan made it clear he wanted to come back to Stourbridge and I’m delighted that he has.
“Chairman Andy Pountney and myself have been working on the deal all week and I know that Ryan is very much looking forward to playing for Stourbridge again.
“It’s a much needed tonic and a big boost for the club after what has been a bit of mixed pre-season for us.
“Ryan was always on the radar once we became aware that he’d become surplus to requirements at Kidderminster.
“For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for Ryan at Kidderminster and as a result, he’d gone a bit stale in what has been a difficult time for him.”
Rowe’s arrival will give the Glassboys the lift they were looking for.
Hackett said: “After going so close last season, they’ll be pressure on us to achieve this season.
“Pre-season has been difficult at times but now I’m happy with my squad and everyone is itching to get started.
“The end of season play-off game with Gosport Borough seems a long way off now.”
Hackett is set to include summer captures Henry Eze and George Washbourne in his line-up at Totton while Jamie Oliver misses out through suspension.
There are also injury doubts about Jordan Fitzpatrick, who is suffering with a back problems, while another former Kidderminster Harrier Dean Bennett is ruled out with a calf strain.
n The Glassboys are appealing for help this Sunday morning at 10.30am to get the ground ready for the visit of St Albans on Tuesday.
At the same time, the club will be selling season tickets from 10.30am until noon.
