BLACK Country Rangers boss Paul Garner couldn’t hide his dismay after his side bowed out of the FA Cup on Sunday when going down 2-1 to Halesowen Town.

Garner claimed : “I thought we could have won it and the more I look back on the game, the more disappointed I become. We more than matched Halesowen.

“Halesowen knew they were in a game and I expect a few seven day notices to come flying in now”.

Rangers should have taken an early lead but Elliot Skelding was denied by a point-blank save by Halesowen goalkeeper Paul Evans.

Halesowen weathered Rangers early onslaught and took the lead on 33 minutes, Ben Haseley crossing for Elliot Turner to head home.

Halesowen increased the lead two minutes later when a tame Haseley shot eluded Rangers goalkeeper Richard Kennedy who slipped at the crucial moment.

Rangers pulled a goal back six minutes into the second half when Paul Oakley coverted Skelding’s cross with a first time shot.

Both goalkeepers were called upon to make crucial saves before Halesowen full back Adam Meacham had an 84th minute goal ruled out for offside.

Rangers were due back in action this week with a West Midland League trip to Willenhall Town ahead of this Saturday’s FA Vase clash with landlords Tividale.
