TEENAGE ace Max Clegg has committed his future to Dudley Heathens — by signing as a full asset.
Clegg, 16, has been a big hit with Heathens fans in his debut year with the club and has decided to put pen to paper despite interest from several other outfits.
However, he insists the club’s heritage from the old Cradley days, together with the fan base, played a massive part in his decision.
He said: “It’s brilliant being a part of a club like this — I’m really happy to be involved .
“Riding in front of so many supporters every week is brilliant, and I couldn’t have asked for a better club.
“I’m really looking forward to progressing with Heathens in the future and hopefully having a good career here.
“I’ve been really happy with how things have gone for me and I’m just grateful to all the management for what they’ve done.”
Heathens are at the Isle of Wight next Tuesday for the second leg of their National League play-off semi-final.
And they will be hosting a home meeting at Wolverhampton on Tuesday, October 8 — but details are not yet known.
Club chief Nigel Pearson said: “We will be racing that night, but until we know whether we are progressing in competitions we cannot make a plan for certain.
“But we have held discussions and we will be staging a meeting as we want the lads to maintain some continuity for the remaining weeks of the season.
“These are exciting times for us and we are desperate to go all the way, but at the same time we are pleased with how the riders have progressed.”
