CAUSEWAY United clinched a place in Monday's FA Vase Third Round draw following a conclusive 4-1 win over local rivals Dudley Town on Sunday - writes Nick Pullen

The match had to be moved to a Sunday kick-off owing to the fact Causeway groundshare with Halesowen Town.

Yet despite the convincing scoreline, it was Dudley's Robins who began the brighter side, which culminated with them bagging  a 13th minute lead.

Causeway's defence failed to cope with a Brett McGilligan cross from the left as the ball fell invitingly for Adam Callinswood, whose shot was deflected home by Rion Francis-Mills.

Causeway were quick to level, Aaron Lloyd heading a ball thumped down the middle of the park into the path of Johvan Blake-Walker to slot home past goalkeeper Tom Harper.

The Robins could have easily regained the lead right on the stroke of half time, Croatian striker Dreniz Bala picking out the unmarked Tom Gadd, who headed wide with the goal at his mercy.

Causeway came flying out of the traps in the second half and went in front on 48 minutes.

Substitute Wisden Machanghani, who'd replaced the injured Sam Rock right on half time, cut inside from the left and spotting a gap in Dudley's defence, drove home from the edge of the box for an excellent goal.

Causeway began to take control at this point and created a string of chances.

Hugh Sproston scooped over the bar from in front of goal on 51 minutes as Dudley failed to clear from a corner,  while Blake-Walker headed inches wide on the hour.

Jack Pearlman then had a shot deflected wide on 69 minutes as the Robins goal began to lead a charmed life.

Causeway were almost caught out when a low raking shot from Tom Gadd went inches wide.

But the clinical moment arrived on 83 minutes when Sam Beasley's cross was headed home by Pearlman to put Causeway in complete command at 3-1 up.

There was no return for the Robins from this point as Causeway converted a fourth goal on 86 minutes, Lloyd lashing home from the penalty spot after Rob Whitley was booked for bringing down the enigmatic Machanghani.

Dudley's demise also ends all West Midlands League interest in this season's FA Vase contest.
