CAUSEWAY United’s Daniel Scarr could be out for another two week’s at least after limping out of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Walsall Wood.

Scarr suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury and is expected to miss Saturday’s game at home to Coventry Sphinx and the trip to face Midland alliance leaders Quorn on Tuesday.

Boss Andy Mole also saw Sam Beasley come off with a dead leg, although he expects to have him available for selection. United had led 2-0 at Wood through an own goal and Todd Evans but were pegged back just before half time, with both sides having been reduced to ten men, Alex Cowley red carded for the visitors, and a late penalty denied them maximum points.

Mole said: “They were a very good side but a little frail defensively when we got at them so I was disappointed not to come away with all three points.

“We’ll go to Quorn and give them some respect because you don’t top the league without being a good side but I’ve seen nothing this year that says to me they’ll win the league and there are four or five sides who could yet still win it.”

However, Saturday’s game with Sphinx is dependent on some drying weather but the forecast for the remainder of the week is not good, especially Friday.

Tuesday’s game at home to Alvechurch was also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

“We could really do with a drying out day on Friday,” said Mole.

“Then I think we’ll be OK. Fingers crossed.

”All these postponements are not good, people hanging around but if can aim to finish in the top six that would be a platform to build on for next season.

“We have virtually had to build a new team from scratch this season so we’ve done quite well but next season I’d like us to be ready earlier so we can have a tilt at the FA Cup and Vase which we weren’t really in a position to do this year. To a certain extent we’re still building now.”

Causeway versus Coventry Sphinx kicks off at 3pm.
