Austin hails Kirkham's impact

DUDLEY Town chairman Steve Austin has hailed the impact of interim manager Nigel Kirkham.

Kirkham has steered The Robins to back-to-back league wins after having only a few weeks to work with a host of new recruits and youth team players.

After initially losing 3-1 in a difficult game against Pegasus Juniors in his first match in charge, his team has since gone on to beat Bartley Green 4-3 and Bromyard 3-0.

A brace from Shawn Davenport and a Daryl Hand strike gave Dudley all three points in their game against Bromyard last Wednesday.

Austin said: "I am really pleased. Nigel has come in and steadied the ship.

"So far it has been very encouraging and we are now in a position where we can compete in games again, that is the main thing for us.

"The new players, especially the younger lads, have all come in and done fantastically well for Nigel. I am confident we will win more game than we lose during the rest of the season.

"There will, without doubt, be defeats along the way, but the club is in a much better position now.

"Considering what happened, the players that we lost, it is good to be competing well once again."

Dudley were set to play Black Country Rangers away last night and will take on Smethwick Rangers away this Saturday.
