Dudley Sports facing vital game in survival battle

DUDLEY Sports could take a big step towards securing their West Midlands League Premier Division status this weekend.

They travel to bottom side Bustleholme this Saturday knowing a win would extend the gap between the two sides to 12 points.

The fixture comes on the back of a much-needed 2-1 home win over Bilston last weekend and manager Andy Gore thinks another victory would go a long way to making sure Sports stay up this season.

He said: "The Bilston game was a massive win for us. It was our first win for six or seven games and we really needed that. It now gives us something to build on.

"If we can get back-to-back league wins by beating Bustleholme it will make life a lot easier for us. Our aim now should be to be more consistent with our levels of performance and see if we can get another three points in quick succession."

Last weekend's victory against Bilston saw both James Padden and Kennedy Digi hit their first goals for the club.

Before Saturday's game against Bustleholme, Dudley were set to play Bromyard away in the cup on Tuesday night. Gore said he would be looking to give some of his team's fringe players a run out. He has a full squad to pick from except Andrew Blakeley who is still a few weeks away after suffering a broken nose.
