LYE Town boss Martin Thomas says his players are fully focused on their promotion goal.

After last weekend’s away game against Bewdley Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Thomas has been busy on the training pitch with his squad.

Ahead of this Saturday’s home game against Smethwick Rangers (3pm ko), he said: “I can see how well the players are focused at the moment. They have put in a some really good training sessions recently.”

Lye showed their determination when overcoming Shifnal Town in their previous game last Wednesday .

A second half blitz from Town saw them win 7-1 away despite the fact that the sides went in 0-0 at the break.

In the first period Shifnal worked very hard to close down the space. However, a second half changed of shape opened the door to victory for the visitors.

Lye broke the deadlock on 49 minutes when Ricky Anslow beat his man out wide to cross for James Spray to fired high into the net.

From that point on the goals started to flow. Goals from James Spray bagged a brace, Steve Weaver netted a hat-trick and Damian Whitcombe and Simon Williams added to others. Lye have bolstered their squad with the arrival of central midfielder Lewis Clarke, who has been brought in after an injury to Nicky Pugh.
