Gore welcomes Black Country success

SUCCESS for other Black Country teams is good for football in the area says Dudley Sports Tony Gore.

Three success West Midland Regional Premier wins have put a spring in the step of Gore's young side.

Last night they were looking to keep that record going at Wolverhampton Sporting then on Saturday they entertain near neighbours Dudley Town.

Gore too advantage of a free Saturday to watch Halesowen Town secure the EvoStik Division One South title and he said: "It's great for Halesowen, who had Sam Pearson, our keeper for the last three years on the bench."But Tividale winning the Midland Alliance is also a positive thing, and Lye Town and Stourbridge both going for promotion from their respective leagues is great for football in this area."

Sports are well clear of relegation themselves but have the motivation of a League Cup quarter-final with either Malvern Town or Black Country Ranger to look forward to.

"The players are already motivated to finish as high as they can and having the cup game is another motivation for them.

"We had a poor start and middle of the season, and have virtually had to rebuild twice but we are finishing strongly with a team packed with 16 and 17 year olds. It's just a shame that some of the players who impressed for us earlier in the season were picked up by other clubs, that is always frustrating, but we've enjoyed the season and some good results against the better sides."
