DAN Jones hit two as Causeway United recorded their sixth league win on the bounce.

The striker showed great composure to open the scoring before Matt Aston made it two inside 20 minutes.

Jones scored an impressive third just past the half hour as the hosts threatened to run riot.

Oadby got back into the game in the second half through Andrew Tiday but a wonderful effort from Craig Connor sealed the points.

Work commitments mean Jones can only play in midweek games but boss Carl Burley will surely be keen to change that after a superb display which included the two excellently taken goals.

He and striker partner Aaron Lloyd terrorised the lacklustre visiting defence during a dominant first half showing.

The only downside for United was a sloppy second half performance which saw them concede their first goal of the winning run as the visitors nabbed a consolation through Tiday.

Lloyd had already brought a smart save from visiting keeper Wayne Connelly before setting up Jones for the opening goal on nine minutes, flicking on a punt upfield from Todd Henderson which Jones raced onto, before calmly wrongfooting his defender and firing past the keeper.

Only a fine last ditch tackle from Frasier Tuttle prevented Ben Stretton from adding to the lead two minutes later after a neat through ball from Jones. Stretton was then guilty of sending a free header from a set piece wide shortly after when he really should have scored.

When the second goal did arrive on 18 minutes it was somewhat scrappy. A long range effort from Stretton was deflected behind and from Carl Martin's resulting corner the visiting defence failed to pick up Aston, who ghosted in at the near post to flick home.

Causeway continued to press and captain Chris Field was wayward with a couple of efforts from distance, before Jones showed more sharp skill to add a third.

Controlling Lloyd's cross from the right which was slightly behind him, he was then able to turn and in the same movement fire past a grounded Connelly. There was little respite for the keeper, who was forced to tip an Aston shot over the bar.

Oadby posed little threat and their best effort of the half was a Tiday shot which went narrowly wide of the post just before the break.

Causeway followers may have anticipated a chance to run up the score in the second period but in truth the home side slackened, allowing the visitors plenty of possession which eventually lead to a deserved goal on the hour.

Hardeep Phull had already sent an effort straight at Todd Henderson in the Causeway goal before a neat pass from Adam Parry found Tiday in acres of space on the right, the striker rounding the keeper before slotting home.

However, a stunning comeback never really looked on and in the final 15 minutes the home side stepped up the pace. Jones was inches away from completing his hat-trick when substitute Adam Meacham's centre flashed inches out of his reach, before Connor stole the show with a contender for goal of the season.

The wideman, who is currently building his match fitness on a loan spell from Stourbridge, picked up the ball around 35 yards out and unleashed a thunderbolt into the bottom corner past a motionless Connelly.

Causeway could have had more at the death as Martin shot wide and Connelly was sharp to tip a sliced Connor cross onto the post.
