HALESOWEN Town boss Morell Maison faces the prospect of time away from the Grove after he was banned from football for three months.
An FA disciplinary panel had originally suspended him from the game until June 2010 but this has been reduced following a three-and-a-half hour appeal hearing on Monday – though Maison will now also serve a 12 -month touchline ban on his return.
In March the Yeltz boss was found guilty on charges of violent conduct and failure to provide information.
With Maison also the major shareholder at the Grove it is unclear what the ban will mean for the immediate future of the club or who will take over first team management during his suspension. The full ruling of the Appeal Board is set to be released in the next few days while the Yeltz will also release a detailed statement.
In a brief message posted on the club’s website following Monday’s hearing, chief executive Guy Simpson said they were “very happy” with the outcome.
He added: “While we are waiting for final written confirmation we can confirm we have successfully obtained a substantial reduction to the original sanction.
“We will publish full details within the next 48 hours.”
The charges related to an incident after the club’s game at Chippenham Town last September in which Maison was involved in a dramatic on-field clash with striker Dean Brennan.
A police investigation followed after Brennan made a complaint of assault though no criminal charges were brought.
Maison’s ban is one of a string of problems to hit the club since the New Year. In January it was revealed the Yeltz were £15,000 in debt, while they also incurred the wrath of angry parents for failing to provide kits promised at junior soccer camps.
The club itself was then briefly suspended from football at the start of April for failing to pay contracted monies to players along with loan and transfer fees to two clubs. Last month the Yeltz were docked three points for fielding an ineligible player.
