HALESOWEN Town have topped the charts by becoming the Christmas No.1
The Yeltz hit the heights following their 3-0 success over Sheffield FC.
They clinched top spot in Evo-Stik League Division One South after long time leaders Leek Town had their game with Bedworth United called off.
Crafty Yeltz chairman Colin Brookes claimed: "We knew Leek's game had been called off before our match with Sheffield started - but we didn't tell the players!
"After the game, we announced that we'd gone top over the tannoy and you should have heard the roar that came out - I thought we'd scored another goal.
"I looked at the league tables on Sunday morning and for a moment, I thought they'd missed us out - then it dawned on me that we were top. It's a great feeling going into Christmas".
Halesowen's achievement in going top has sent club officials thumbing through the record books to find the last time they topped the charts. It's believed to be when Brendan Phillips was in charge as they won the Southern League Western Division.
Chairman Brookes was equally ecstatic about the size of their crowd against Sheffield.
At a time when crowds are traditionally low, the Yeltz managed to pull in 382 supporters.
Brookes claimed: "I can't believe where they are all coming from. but it just goes to show, when the team is winning, the people will come".
Halesowen are back at The Grove on New Year's Day when they take on Chasetown and Brookes is confident it will attract their biggest crowd of the season.
Halesowen handed themselves the perfect Christmas present with the 3-0 win over Sheffield when Iyesden Christie headed home from another long range Tom Tonks throw after just five minutes.
Another Tonks throw created havoc and Redditch United loanee Kyle Patterson followed up Christie's blocked shot to make it 2-0 on 37 minutes.
Tonks produced another long range missile for Christie to slot home a third goal and send Halesowen right to the top of the Christmas tree
